Record keeping is a necessary evil to keep things running smoothly in a shared airplane ownership. After trying several ways to track pilot hobbs hours we found a simple solution.

It’s a hobbs record form printed on yellow card stock. There’s space to enter the date, flight description, beginning and ending hobbs & flight time.

The form conveniently tri-folds to fit on the Cirrus Perspective center console. And, the yellow color makes it easy to see so pilots remember to log their time.

Each month the card is removed for member billing and replaced with a new one.

We use premium 110 lb index card stock (8.5″ x 11″) which you can find at most supply stores like OfficeMax. Each sheet is printed with two forms on a standard printer and then the card stock is cut in half.

I’ve included a download link to our Hobbs form in Excel and PDF format. You can change or adjust the Excel form to meet your specific printer requirements if the PDF version doesn’t work.

This simple form has saved us record keeping time, which allows the main focus to stay on enjoying general aviation flying. Blue sky!
