Welcome! This is our fifth anniversary of general aviation writing at wikiWings®. During the year, we added articles covering a number of topics. Here are the highlights:
Embark: Safety first. We helped promote awareness for Embark which is paid for by Cirrus. They will arrange Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilots (CSIPs) at no charge to pilots purchasing pre-owned Cirrus Aircraft. The training is provided by the Cirrus network of instructors. Embark was created to train pilots buying Cirrus aircraft on the used market. It doesn’t matter if you buy the plane from an individual or broker. Check out the details in our September 29, 2017 weblog “Embark is a value for pilots transitioning to preowned Cirrus Aircraft.” It’s the right way to take-off in your Cirrus airplane.
Cirrus Pilot Annual Safety Issue, April 2018: If you’re interested in Cirrus Aircraft please join the Cirrus Owners & Pilot Association (COPA). This year, we published in the Cirrus Pilot Magazine’s annual safety issue “A Clear Solution for Ice Protection” which chronicles the evolution of Cirrus Aircraft’s TKS inadvertent ice protection system from the G1 through G3 and the 2009 certification of their Flight into Know Ice Protection (FIKI) system.
Cirrus Shipments: We report on the number Cirrus Aircraft shipments by year and more specifically by the model generation which have not always corresponded to a calendar year (G1, G2, G3, etc.). If you’re in the market to sell or purchase a preowned airplane it’s helpful to know the number manufactured and available supply for sale.
That was then, This is now: We bring reports on the preowned market for Cirrus planes and include asking prices from prior years. A 3% supply for sale is considered reasonable and less than that is considered a supply contraction. This past year, we reviewed SR22 G1, Centennial Limited Edition, G2, and G3. Over the next several weeks, we’ll continue to review the current market and compare the changes.
They’re back: Five years ago we purchased a 2008 Cirrus Perspective SR22TN Turbo. After 500 hours of Cirrus flight in time we’re back in the market to purchase another airplane. We’ll chronicle the details on our weblog.
Mountain Flying: We reported on mountain flying instruction in full motion simulators and actual conditions in Colorado this past year. Review our weblogs for more details.
