At the Cirrus Austin Texas Get Together (CATGT) I spoke with Justin Dillion, a Cirrus Vision Jet pilot. He’s the Senior Regional Sales Director for the Western United States. Justin was familiar with the Conklin and de Decker operating cost report. But he said, true operating cost for the Cirrus Vision Jet is slightly higher at about $650 per hour. It’s still the lowest operating cost among any jet on the market.
At FL280, the Vision Jet burns about 65 gallons per hour and has a TAS above 300 knots.

On May 6, 2017, the second Cirrus Austin Texas Get Together (CATGT) occurred at Austin Executive Airport (KEDC). People arrived by both car and plane. Once again, music lightened the air and aircraft were on display in the large Hendrix Jet Center hangar next to the FBO. Several new G6 and G5 SR22’s were there along with the new Cirrus Jet. Rudy’s catered a great barbecue food feast. More than 120 Cirrus enthusiasts came together for an evening of music, food, fellowship and learning.
It was another example of the “Cirrus Life.” A journey with memorable moments and people carried along in personal stories about flying. It’s also about how today’s general aviation is transforming life among business, family and friends.
The 2017 Cirrus Vision SF50 Personal Jet was front and center. It was my first time to see the jet in person. The ramp stature of the aircraft is impressive. It has a higher stance and larger presence than the Eclipse Jet. And, the “V” quad tail is a striking style statement. The Cirrus Vision SF50 Personal Jet is so new there’s some confusion about standard equipment on the base model. It’s mostly from hangar talk among piston pilots like myself. Some pilots are saying you just get an engine, wings and wheels. Then you pay-up to equip the Jet.
I got a copy of the 2017 sales brochure to answer the question and found the Cirrus Personal Jet comes well equipped.
