In the spring of 2007, Cirrus started delivery of the third generation SR22 airplane and manufacturing continued until the end of 2012. Beginning with serial number 2438, Cirrus shipped about 1,690 SR22-G3 planes during those six years.

All of these planes had a wing up on the competition. In 2007, a re-engineered wing structure was a central change to SR22-G3 models.  And, according to Cirrus, there were more than 700-plus design changes to the Generation Three airframe and systems inside (read “Introduction Cirrus SR22 Generation Three for details“).

But innovation and improvements to the airplane continued after the G3 introduction in 2007. We’ll highlight those developments next week.

In 2013, shipment of the fifth generation SR22-G5 began (Cirrus skipped the G4 designation).

If you’re trying to sell or purchase an airplane it’s useful to know how many of a particular model were shipped. The manufactured supply and market availability help to determine pricing.
