For comfortable cross-country advanced performance personal transportation the Turbocharged Cirrus SR22TN easily beats commercial airlines on a 500 nautical mile flight. “. . . It is a transformational experience that offers freedom, convenience, and luxury car comfort that surpass many commercial aircraft flown today.”
“How many times have you said, “There has got to be a better way?” The aggravations, inconveniences, expense and inefficiencies of commercial air travel are almost cliche’. And the entire experience keeps getting worse (The Cirrus Life brochure ).”
I’ve traveled a lot between Houston Texas and Birmingham Alabama – on both commercial airlines and with general aviation. If you book a non-stop commercial flight it’s at least 1.5 hours over 500 nautical miles; otherwise, a booking with one-stop can last anywhere from 3 – 5 hours, plus drive time, check-in, security, waiting and boarding.
The example below is based on a commercial airline trip that is non-stop for 90 minutes flight time, and a turbocharged Cirrus in no-wind condition.
Reason 11 – Better Than Commercial Airlines on 500 NM Flight
A turbocharged Cirrus SR22TN beats SouthWest airlines.
Transportation | Drive Time | Pre-Boarding | Flight Time | Minutes | Hours |
Turbocharged Cirrus | 12 | 25 | 174 | 211 | 3.52 |
SouthWest Airlines | 45 | 97 | 90 | 232 | 3.87 |
I have eliminated about $8,000 in annual commercial airline travel that is no longer needed because the Turbocharged Cirrus gets me where I’m going. This was not part of my original cost of ownership purchase decision, but the deferred commercial airline travel savings do off-set my general aviation flight expenses.
