Battery 2, Cost of Ownership Cirrus SR22

We had the secondary battery (batt 2) on our Cirrus SR22-G3 replaced. The Batt 2  system, is located in the tail of the airplane. It’s actually two small sealed batteries connected in series.

Cirrus airplanes are dependent on a reliable electrical system for safety of flight, and they have multiple redundancies built-in. 

What is the replacement cost for battery 2 in a Cirrus SR22?

Batt 1, the primary battery, is located against the firewall of the engine compartment. We reviewed it’s replacement cost last week.

In general, the useful life of batteries in a Cirrus SR22 are a calendar limited item. They’re a good example of fixed expense in airplane ownership. The expense will be incurred whether you’re flying just a few hours or a lot.

For a shared ownership arrangement, fixed costs are normally divided equally among members.
