How much does the Jeppesen subscription cost for the SR22 Cirrus Perspective by Garmin? We keep it simple and purchase the Jeppview American data PilotPak for the entire USA which includes:
- Airport directory coverage
- NavData coverage
- Obstacles
- Terrain
- SafeTaxi
- Electronic chart services full USA
We’re charted-up and ready to travel anywhere in the States. In 2015, the twelve month PilotPak subscription, for Cirrus Perspective by Garmin, was $1,454 plus $96 tax. Our total expense was $1,550. The Avidyne subscription is more expensive than the Perspective – go figure?
If you’re a member of Cirrus Owner & Pilot Association (COPA) you can receive Jeppesen discounts and enhanced services. One benefit is 15 months for the price of 12 months on initial subscription and renewals. Another good reason to join COPA. Search “Jeppesen discounts” on the COPA site for more information.
In a shared aircraft ownership, only two categories of airplane operating expense are typically needed: “fixed expense” and “variable expense.” The cost of a Jeppesen subscription would be categorized as a “fixed expense.” Usually, fixed cost would be split equally among members because it’s not calculated into the hourly operating rate and it shouldn’t be. A fixed expense can be incurred regardless of the number of hours the plane is flow.
